An Oct. 22 car accident in Brooklyn left three people injured, according to the MTA. A B61 bus carrying passengers was traveling on Dwight Street when a black livery cab ran a stop sign and struck it. The bus driver veered in an attempt to avoid the collision, but the impact caused it to hit a minimum of three parked cars. The bus came to a stop once it crossed the sidewalk and hit the brick wall of a local business.

A pedestrian was pinned between two parked cars that were hit by the bus, according to a nearby witness who was nearly struck as well. Witnesses reported seeing the bus and a car approaching, followed by a loud sound of impact as the bus hit the wall. Three people were taken to the Lutheran Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries related to the accident.

According to the police, an investigation was launched to determine the cause of the accident. Details on the condition of the livery cab driver at the time of the crash were not released, so it is unclear if intoxication or speeding played a role. Details on the extent of the damage to the Linda Tool business are also pending. Depending on the results of the investigation, the business owners may choose to file a civil claim for property damages.

The identities of the injured victims and details about their injuries are also unknown. If any of the victims sustained serious injuries as a result of the multiple vehicle accent, they may pursue compensation through a civil lawsuit. Because police have reported that the accident was caused when the cab driver ran a stop sign, he may face civil liability for damages as a negligent driver.
